Description

WLP001 needs no introduction. Since White Labs first released it in 1995 it has become arguably the most brewed-with yeast strain on the planet — the benchmark against which all other clean ale yeasts are measured. Now available in dry format, its extraordinary qualities are more accessible than ever.

Perfect for these beer styles: American IPA, West Coast IPA, Double IPA, American Pale Ale, American Amber Ale, American Lager-style Ale, Kölsch-style, California Common, Blonde Ale, Golden Ale, American Porter, American Stout, Cream Ale — essentially any style where you want clean yeast character and hop expression.

What made WLP001 famous is its singular ability to stay completely out of the way of your hops. Its clean neutral fermentation profile adds virtually no ester or phenol character, allowing every dimension of your hop bill — citrus, pine, tropical, dank, floral — to come through with startling clarity. This is why it became the default choice for West Coast IPA, where the beer is all about the hops.

Higher than average attenuation produces noticeably drier beers that pair beautifully with the bitterness-forward West Coast IPA style. Quick diacetyl reabsorption means short conditioning times and fast turnaround. Medium flocculation provides a moderately clear beer without heavy fining.

This dry version is produced in collaboration with Lallemand Brewing using the same authentic WLP001 strain. The result is identical fermentation character in a shelf-stable, easy-to-use format. If you have never brewed with WLP001, this is the perfect moment to try the legend.
